There are build out plans for both the Malaysian states of the island of Borneo that extend to around year 2035 that will change the place from one of biodiversity and forests to encourage heavy industrial development.. Huge plans to level forests and put in a dozen dams from top to bottom of Sarawak are underway with the completion of one that is filling that will flood about 700 Kilometers area extending to many narrow valley floors. The plans for the state to the North are likewise likely not for the benefit of local people as much as cheap electricity for things like aluminum manufacture with huge amount of outside money coming in from outside investment to convert the land to industrial and industrial scale agriculture and the like. Biodiversity and the treasure, the real treasure of the place plays second fiddle to master plan of rulers.
