Sadly the ranchers lobby always wins out, after all they are exporting this meat to Europe and the Amazon slaughter houses were financed by the World Bank! I do not believe that President Lula really cares about the environment at all but Minke is sincere in stopping the deforestation. It's a bit like David against Goliath!Strange for Norway to be worried about the Amazon while they are happily killing endangered whales on the side!
It is sad that the world continues to bury it's collective heads in ignorance for the sake of the almighty dollar. To put commerce first before life itself and our very future of survival on this planet earth only points to our own inevitable demise. Science and the laws of physics are not in our favor, yet still ignorance prevails.
God bless Minister Carlos Minc and his predecessors for their unheralded efforts.
