the Ego of mankind has very litle to offer this living planet. the continuos thought that somehow mankind is so much more important to the survival of the planet and all of its plant and animal species than the earth itself is preposterous. this planet will fix itself, although mankind may not be alive to see it happen. We the so called masters of destiny have shown that all we are really good at for this planet is to destroy the perfect balance and harmony of nature. It is mankind's thought pattern that needs to change, not the ideas of making more changes to the environement without really knowing what the overall consequences will be. All we really have to do is live in harmony with all life forms on this planet and stop destroying everything that is there just to have more things that we do not use or need. When mankind comes back to the realisation that we are just one of many species using this planet and it's resouces to survive then we may also realise that living in a harmoniuos way with all life forms and also the planet is the only way to ensure that there will be any possibility of a future for our children and their children to come. Once the oxygen levels are changed to the extent that we can no longer breathe the air, then we may realise that we have ensured our demise but not the planet and all other lifeforms demise. Our chance to act is now not tomorrow or in ten years or thirty years, by then it will be too late for man's survival. now is the time to stop talking and too start living in harmony.

Another side to the biochar story can be found here: http://www.biofuelwatch.org.uk/docs/biocharbriefing.pdf

We have to stop pretending that we can replace the energy contained within fossil fuels with plant material. We need to localise everything and reduce energy demand, not try to carry on with our energy-intensive ways - which we could never have developed without the huge bank of energy from fossil fuels. If only there were more ecologists in positions of power!
