First of all I would like to thank Pablo Garcia for his consideration of soil erosion on Easter Island.
I also would like to add that the reasons for those problems today are diverse. The people of the island continue to burn the land and lead the animals to overgrazing because they do not have other solutions; that it is how they see things and they struggle for survival on the island.
Also, people need to be informed on the problems and of erosion consequences. But, also, the people of the island should be taught alternatives to erosion, how they can remediate those problems.
But, aslo there is a problem of resources. Let to say, for a programme of replantation, the community does not have funds to implement those kind of programmes. the people are ready to listen and to help; but, without much control of our resources and inadequate distribution of funds, we the people cannot do much, but only seek for food to survive on the day.
So, we really need restructuration and also help.
