The author submits that the 500 trillion humans would have an impoverished biotic atmosphere in which to run unimpeded into one another everywhere a blade of grass sprouted to be trampled. We are part of that biosphere, and when we don't know what the cause of the amphibians or colony collapse disorder is, how in the devil would we know how many damages we have already inflicted on our genenome. I submit that we are closing in on our sacred closing chapter, unless we rapidly remove at least 90% of our overburden of numerous plenty. With the religious institutions running the focus of more is better, we are probably not going to be here in 5,000 years hence. One child per family isn't the answer either, as great struggles are made to keep children alive that would have perished only a few years ago, weakening our resolve to survive.
